Smartifie Start Stop is a shop-floor time capture app that records when operators start, stop and finish production jobs, and why work stopped, for factories and workshops. An operator scans a badge on a bench terminal, picks the operation and work order, and presses START, STOP or FINISH; raw, break and net time are kept apart. Supervisors get an attention list, corrections with a full history, and hour reports with an Excel export. It is priced per terminal with unlimited operators; the cloud edition runs in the browser, and lifetime Windows and Android editions that keep data on the device are announced but not yet published.

What you can do with Smartifie Start Stop
- Operators identify themselves on the Terminal by scanning a badge with a keyboard-style USB or Bluetooth scanner, with the device camera, or by tapping their name, depending on the identification setting.
- The camera scanner reads QR, Code 128, Code 39, Data Matrix and EAN-13; in a browser it needs https and camera permission.
- You can require a PIN after the badge scan; it is typed on an on-screen number pad.
- The Terminal asks one thing at a time: operation, work order (scanned or searched by number, product code or product name), job, then START.
- Several operators can work the same job: the Terminal offers stopped jobs to take over, running jobs to join, or a new job, and each person gets their own time entry.
- STOP shows the most recently used reasons as large buttons (6 by default), a search box, All reasons, and New reason for typing a reason not on the list.
- Stops shorter than a threshold (120 seconds by default) can be explained later with I will say later; longer stops must get a reason before work continues.
- STOP can stop part of a job: the lowered quantity becomes a separate stopped job and the operator carries on with the rest.
- FINISH records Good, Scrap and Rework quantities; scrap can be required to have a reason from the Quality category.
- By default each operator finishes only their own part and the job completes when the last one finishes; a setting lets one FINISH close the job for everyone.
- Set-up and Production time can be recorded as separate phases, and Rework jobs can be opened after a job is finished.
- The Terminal shows the job's raw, break and net time, the job's start/stop log, and a My day card with the operator's own time today.
- After 300 seconds without a touch (adjustable) the Terminal forgets the operator but keeps the job's clock running.
- By default, jobs still running at the end of a shift are closed at the shift end time and flagged for a supervisor.
- Breaks are deducted from the shift calendar by default, or taken by pressing STOP, or both without double deduction; a calculated break is always labelled as calculated.
- Shifts have weekdays, start and end times, breaks and an optional work center; holidays have no shift.
- Work orders, routings, operators, work centers and operations can be imported from Excel (.xlsx) or CSV files, each with a downloadable example file; re-importing work orders updates them instead of duplicating.
- Bulk actions on Work orders change status, quantity, due date, customer, product, work center or active state, or assign one routing to many orders.
- A work order moves from Open to In progress at its first START; Completed and Cancelled orders cannot be booked.
- Optional rules: only operations on the order's routing, a required work order number pattern, and operators limited to operations they are cleared for (on by default).
- Badges prints one card or a sheet as a PDF in three sizes (85.6 x 54, 100 x 70 or 60 x 90 mm), with a Code 128 barcode or QR code; included in every plan.
- A starting list of 26 stop reasons can be loaded and then renamed, deactivated or extended; reasons have a category, a Planned flag and a Counts as lost availability flag.
- Operations carry an optional standard time per unit and set-up time; efficiency against standard is shown only where a standard exists.
- Reports groups hours by work order, operation or work center for any date range, with raw, break and net hours, downtime, quantities and efficiency.
- Export to Excel on Reports produces three sheets: Hours, Stoppages and Daily record (one row per operator per day); paid plans.
- Records lists every job in a period and a Needs a look queue: jobs closed automatically, jobs open too long (16 hours by default) and stops with no reason.
- Run correction changes an entry's start, end, operator, reason or quantity, or reopens or deletes it; a reason is always required and every change stays in the history; paid plans.
- Corrections can require a second approval, and nobody can approve their own request.
- Chosen operators can record a press up to a set number of minutes in the past; every such press goes to the approval list with its real time.
- Any setting can be overridden for a single work center.
- Grouping reports by operator is possible only after per-person reports are switched on and the owner confirms staff were informed.
- On a device, roles control which pages a user may open and whether they may correct records, approve corrections, export to Excel or manage users; in the cloud the account owner closes pages per user.
- Download all data (Excel) on Account exports every table, including the full time record and correction history.
- Every screen, export and printed card is available in Turkish, English and Spanish.
Screens and how to use them
Overview
The landing screen after sign-in: what is still missing from set-up, records that need a look, and the last two weeks of figures.
Steps
- Follow the Set-up list (work centers, operations, operators, shifts, stop reasons, an open work order) using each Set up link.
- Press Review to open the records that need a look.
- Read Where the time went for the top five downtime reasons and Last two weeks for net time and downtime per day.
Good to know
- A warning lists operators who have no badge code and therefore cannot start work.
- Planned stops are shown in blue, unplanned in amber.
Terminal
The shop-floor screen for a tablet or PC at the bench. It has no menu so it can stay open all shift.
Steps
- Scan your card, use Scan with camera, or choose your name; enter your PIN if asked.
- Choose the operation, then scan or search the work order.
- Take over a stopped job, join a running one, or tap New job and enter the quantity.
- Choose Set-up or Production if offered and press START.
- Press STOP, adjust how many pieces are stopping, and pick or type a reason.
- Press CONTINUE to resume, or FINISH and enter Good, Scrap and Rework.
- Press Change operator when you leave.
Good to know
- A second START while already on another job is refused unless working on several jobs at once is allowed.
- Quantities cannot exceed what is left on the work order, except on a Rework job.
- With a read-only licence, open jobs can still be stopped and finished, but new work cannot start.
Work orders
What is being made and, optionally, the routing it follows.
Steps
- Press New work order or Import work orders.
- Enter Work order no., Item, Quantity and Unit, plus optional due date, customer, work centers and notes.
- Add routing steps with Add a step, or load them with Import routes.
- Select orders and use Bulk actions for mass changes or Assign routes.
Good to know
- The work order number is the only required import column and must be unique.
- Importing routes replaces that order's routing; the order must already exist.
- Without a routing any operation can be booked, unless the routing rule is switched on.
Operators
The people who book time: personnel number, name, badge code, PIN, usual work center, photo and cleared operations.
Steps
- Press New operator or Import.
- Enter Personnel no., names and Badge code, and a PIN if used.
- Tick the operations under Cleared for.
- Press Print badges to print cards.
Good to know
- Operators are not licence seats; add as many as needed.

Steps
- Tick the operators who need a card.
- Press One card for a single card, or Print for a sheet.
- Use Edit template to set size, layout, code type, colour and back side.
Good to know
- Operators without a badge code are left off the sheet and listed.

Steps
- Press Load the starting list on a new installation.
- Add or edit reasons and set Category, Planned and Counts as lost availability.
- Add your own groupings on the Categories tab.

Steps
- Press New shift and set times, weekdays and an optional work center.
- Press Add a break for each break.
- Add holiday dates under Holidays.
Good to know

Reports
Hours worked and what they produced, for a chosen period.
Steps
- Set From and To (last 30 days by default).
- Choose Group by.
- Press Export to Excel.
Good to know
- When breaks come from the calendar the screen says the break figure is assumed, not measured.

- Excel export needs a paid plan and the export permission.
Records
Every job in a period, the ones needing a supervisor, and pending correction requests.
Steps
- Set dates, work center and status (last 7 days by default).
- Press Needs a look for the supervisor queue.
- Press Correct on a row to fix it.
- Approvers press Pending corrections to approve or reject requests.

Steps
- Press Correct on the entry.
- Change start, end, operator, stop reason or quantity.
- Fill in Why are you changing this? and press Save, Reopen or Delete.
Good to know
- With approval required the buttons send a request instead.
- A request made against a record that changed meanwhile is marked Outdated.
- Paid plans only; needs the Correct records permission.

Steps
- On a device, create the administrator at first start.
- Create a role, tick its pages and permissions.
- Create users, assign roles and hand over the one-time password.
- In the cloud, press Open the Team page to manage users on smartifie.com.

- The Terminal opens from the sign-in screen without an account.
Account
Account information, plan and licence, data export, data deletion and account deletion.
Steps
- On a device, paste the licence key and press Activate; no internet is needed.
- To move it, press Remove from this terminal first.

Contact support
Report a fault or request a change; Help explains every screen.
Steps
- Choose the kind of request and the screen.
- Describe what happened and attach up to 5 screenshots.
- Press Send.
Good to know
- Earlier requests and answers are listed below the form; answers come by e-mail.
Frequently asked questions
Is Smartifie Start Stop priced per user?
No. It is priced per terminal, the device operators use at the bench, and operators are unlimited on every plan. Adding people never uses up a licence.
Do I need a barcode scanner?
No. A USB or Bluetooth scanner is fastest, but the device camera can read the badge, and the identification setting can let operators tap their name instead.
Does Smartifie Start Stop use fingerprint or face recognition?
No. Operators identify themselves with a badge card, optionally followed by a PIN, or by choosing their name. No biometric data is processed.
Does it work offline?
It depends on the edition. The cloud edition runs in the browser and needs a connection. The Windows and Android editions keep their data on the device and work offline, but they are not yet published.
How are breaks deducted from working time?
From the shift calendar by default, so operators press nothing. You can switch to operators pressing STOP for a break, or use both without deducting twice. A calculated break is always labelled as calculated.
What happens if an operator forgets to press STOP at the end of the shift?
The job is closed at the shift end time and flagged under Needs a look in Records. A supervisor then confirms or corrects it; this needs at least one shift defined.
Can several operators work on the same job?
Yes. Each person who joins gets their own time entry. By default each finishes their own part and the job completes when the last one finishes.
Can one operator run two jobs at the same time?
Only if you allow it. The setting is off by default, so a second START is refused until the first job is stopped.
Can an operator stop only part of a job's quantity?
Yes. On STOP the operator lowers how many pieces are stopping; that part becomes a separate stopped job someone else can take over.
Must every short stop have a reason?
No. Stops shorter than the threshold (120 seconds by default) can be explained later with I will say later. Set the threshold to 0 to ask for a reason every time.
Can a supervisor correct a wrong time record?
Yes, on paid plans. Run correction changes start, end, operator, reason or quantity; every correction needs a reason, stays in the history and can require a second approval.
Can operators record a start or stop they forgot to press?
Yes, if you allow it. In Settings you choose how many minutes back the Terminal may record and which operators may do it; each such press is sent for approval with its real time.
Does it measure efficiency against standard times?
Yes, where an operation has a standard time per unit. Reports then shows standard hours and an Against standard figure; without a standard no efficiency is shown.
Does it track set-up time separately from production?
Yes. With the default setting the Terminal offers Set-up and Production before START and records them as separate phases.
Can it record scrap and rework?
Yes. FINISH asks for Good, Scrap and Rework quantities, scrap can require a Quality reason, and Rework jobs can be opened after a job is finished.
Can I import work orders from Excel?
Yes. Import work orders reads .xlsx or CSV files, matches column names loosely in three languages and updates existing orders on re-import. Routings, operators, work centers and operations import the same way.
Can it print employee badge cards?
Yes, in every plan including the trial. The Badges screen produces a PDF of one card or a sheet, in three sizes, with a Code 128 barcode or a QR code.
Can I compare operators' performance?
Only after you allow it. Per-person reports stay off until switched on and the owner confirms staff were informed; output quantities are never split per person.
Can I restrict which screens a user can open?
Yes. On a device, roles define allowed pages and permissions; in the cloud the account owner closes pages per user on smartifie.com.
What happens when the trial or subscription ends?
Your data stays. Records remain readable and open jobs can still be stopped and finished, but no new work can start until a plan is active again.
How do I get all my data out?
Use Download all data (Excel) on the Account page. It exports every table, including the time record and correction history, as one workbook.
Which languages does it support?
Turkish, English and Spanish, on every screen, in exports and on printed badges. The Terminal has its own language switch.
What Smartifie Start Stop does not do
- No combined OEE score (availability x performance x quality) is calculated; reports show hours, downtime by reason, quantities and efficiency against standard.
- No biometric identification, by design: no fingerprint or face recognition.
- Output quantities are not split between operators; a job worked by three people has one result.
- A work order is not set to Completed automatically when its jobs finish.
- Old time records are not yet anonymised or removed automatically when a retention period ends.
- Only the cloud edition is available today, and it needs an internet connection; the Windows installer and Android build are not yet published.
- On the lifetime device plans each terminal keeps its own data and runs independently of the others.
- No ERP connection; master data comes from spreadsheet import or manual entry.
- Stop reasons cannot be deleted, only deactivated, because past records refer to them.
